P35: It’s All Noise... Just Drive!
And why f1 might be the best movie you’ll watch this summer.
Welcome to Just One Pivot, a focused pause to spark your next best move. This week, we’re tuning out the chaos. Because if you don’t quiet the noise, you’ll miss the signal that matters most: clear progress and direction.
Howdy!
Have you been to the movies lately?
This past Friday, I celebrated my birthday in an IMAX theatre watching the opening of F1, the electric new Formula 1 movie with Brad Pitt. Yeeha! I didn’t expect it to echo my theme for this birthday month, but there it was: Remove the Noise.
The story follows Sonny Hayes, a Formula 1 legend whose career crashed—literally and metaphorically—after an accident. Thirty years later, a struggling team convinces him to return to F1 for one last shot.
But it’s not just about Sonny. It’s also about Joshua Pearce, a rookie more obsessed with his image and social media than with the discipline and decorum needed to become truly great.
Then comes the line that slices through all the chaos. Pearce is glued to his phone, checking public sentiment, when Sonny finally tells him:
“It’s all noise... just drive.”
That’s all I’ll say about the film. No spoilers. But I do think you should see it and let it work on you as a metaphor for life.
Reframe Your Focus
What does that line mean for you, right where you are?
“It’s all noise... just drive.”
What does noise look like in your life?
Maybe it’s comparing your progress to others. Worrying what people think. Getting stuck in the “What ifs...” What if this happens? What if it doesn’t? Maybe it’s the swirl of distractions we talked about last week. If you missed the email, find it here.
And what might “just drive” look like for you?
It could mean taking the risk. Facing the fear. Building the business. Writing the book. Asking for the meeting, the introduction, the opportunity.
It might be creating something from nothing—a program, a venture, a piece of writing, a bolder chapter. Or letting go of past failure, disappointment, lost dreams, or "it’s not fair," so you can start from exactly where you are.
The Pivot: Just Drive
Some thoughts to inspire you to drive with purpose this week:
Clarity comes from action, not overthinking. You can’t steer a parked car. Often, you have to get moving before the vision becomes clear.
The worst draft beats the perfect idea left unwritten. Show up. Write the words. Take the shot. Momentum makes magic possible.
You can’t rewrite the past, but you can choose how you show up today. Forgiveness, growth, healing—none of it happens in reverse. Presence is the first step forward.
Let the noise fade. Do the thing. That’s where the clarity is. Whether it’s a pitch, a blank page, or a hard conversation, just quiet the noise and show up.
And here’s one science-backed truth: Action calms the brain’s fear centers. Neuroscientists have shown that taking deliberate action, even small steps, dampens activity in the amygdala, the part of the brain that processes fear.
May this be the week you let the noise fade and just drive your dream and purpose forward.
Until next week,

Maria
